Pilates Classes Belfast at Restore and Rebalance Physiotherapy
Group Physio led Pilates classes in Belfast. Classes are ran in the Belfast based Restore and Rebalance Physiotherapy Clinic.
Pilates is a safe, sensible and low impact way to exercise and strengthen the whole body, in particular the core musculature. Pilates can be practised by anyone of any age and in any state of physical fitness as the exercises are highly modifiable. In fact it is an ideal form of exercise for expectant or new mothers and Antenatal Pilates classes are held at the clinic. Postnatal mothers are able to join in the beginner classes.
Emma has witnessed the huge benefit that Pilates mat exercises can have in the rehabilitation of the ordinary individual with musculoskeletal pain up to the elite athlete with severe sports injury and for those who are uninjured and wish to improve physical fitness, strength and body appearance.
Pilates mat exercises involve the whole body not just specific muscle groups and are built around 8 key principles:
- Balanced muscle development
- Flowing whole body movement
- Precision and alignment
The exercises engage body and mind and work by rebalancing, strengthening and improving the flexibility of the body from the deep postural core musculature and result in:
- Improved core strength
- Improved pelvic floor strength
- Muscle tone
- Movement patterns

- Reduced stress and tension in the body and mind
